What's in the biscuits?
Protein is an essential component of any healthy dog’s diet.
Proteins help build cells, tissues, organs, enzymes, hormones, antibodies, and more. They can help your dog maintain muscle mass, a well-functioning immune system, and enhance their long-term health. Plus, proteins promote healthy growth in young animals, support reproductive function, and help with tissue repair following trauma.
The type of protein you feed your dog is as important as the quantity of protein.
All of our food and treats contain PURE MUSCLE MEAT Protein
The source of your dog’s protein is very important.
- You can’t feed a dog tainted ingredients and expect them to reach optimum health. It's not only what your dog is eating, what is being fed to what your dog is eating? More about BEEF here
- Our protein is 100% Organic from sustainable farmers. AMAZING, right? Because dogs are family and they deserve healthy food.
Why vegetables, Fruits & Herbs?
Organic ingredients are our supplements and additives to provide optimum nutrition and antioxidants.
Fans of RAW foods, you'll notice we didn't resort to bones, offal or organs. Although typical, inexpensive and readily available, we chose our organic, human grade ingredients with nutritional expertise to provide ample essential nutrition without their use.
Benefits from each ingredient are many, but we have highlighted some interesting facts.
KALE or SPINACH. The amazing super-food. Not only is it packed with nutrients, it's also an anti-inflammatory as well as an anti-oxidant. We use organic kale in our organic dog food when ORGANIC is available. We also use spinach. You remember Popeye the sailor man, right? Spinach & Kale provide powerful body building nutrients. Rich in vitamins and minerals and calcium, did you know Kale has more calcium than milk? Also concentrated in health-promoting powerful antioxidant protection.
GREEN BEANS. You either like them or you don’t. Many think they are nothing but empty calories. Well, we are here to tell you they are much more. Yes, they are high in fiber, so you feel full without getting any fat, but also, they help provide us with that less known mineral silicon, which is extremely important for bone health and connective tissues. They are also FULL of flavonoids, which in case you weren’t aware are antioxidants. So, the next time empty comes to mind, you can just leave the green bean off that list. So there!!
BROCCOLI. Try and beat the benefits of this green. Grab a cup of java because it’s gonna take a while to tell you all the benefits, but here we go. King of low carb veggies. Fights cancer. Good for the heart. More Vitamin C than an orange. As much calcium as a glass of milk. HIGH in folate which produces new cells. Good iron source which transports oxygen through the body. Potassium which assists nerve function. Full of Vitamin K which is good for the bones. Do we have to go on? This is a veggie with a big ego for good reason. Organic? Oh Yeah!!
OK, OK, I get it! Take me to your 100% Organic Dehydrated Dog Food Products
PUMPKIN. Not just for scaring the neighborhood kids at Halloween. Low calorie, good source of fiber and a great source of Vitamin A. So what does that mean, this Vitamin A, you speak of? Well, it’s best use is the maintenance of the immune system and don’t forget, it’s great for digestion. In fact, if your dog gets an upset tummy because it ate a dried up worm off the sidewalk (Mac, I’m talking about you) a little canned pumpkin-no sugar or salt added- can fix that right up. Do I have to tell you, we use only organic pumpkin in our organic dog food or are you starting to get the picture.
CARROTS. Well we know they are a good source of fiber and Vitamin C, but do you know why they are good for your eyes? OK, so here’s your science lesson in a short paragraph. Beta-Carotene, which gives them their color and they are full of it. The liver converts that into Vitamin A and travels to the retina, which we know from biology class is in the eye. Right? It is then transformed in to rhodopsin, which is a purple pigment necessary for night vision. So cool. Beta-Carotene is also one of those really cool antioxidants, but I bet your dog knew all of that. Right? Right!! Organic? Right!!
SQUASH. Is it yellow, is it green, is it butternut? Well, it’s all of those. But, the squash family is also abundant with antioxidants which is great for the immune system and the beta-carotene provides you with an anti-inflammatory. Don’t forget the squash. Duh! Must you ask? Of course, it’s organic.
BLUEBERRIES. Antioxidants. We hear it a lot, but what is it? They protect cells from unstable molecules known as free radicals. They help fight cancer and heart disease. Blues are loaded with phytochemicals and that's where they get their blue color. High in nutrients and antioxidants, so we use Organic Blues in our food and offer them as a dehydrated treat. Cody, Bentley & Ami love them. Now that's radical!!
BANANAS. Potassium? YES!! Fiber? Yes!!! Full of Vitamin B6 which helps metabolize protein. In case you didn’t know, dogs need a good source of protein and a fruit that helps their body get use of it, need we say more? It also regulates blood cells to help bring more blood and oxygen to brain and muscles. Smarter and stronger. I’m for that. Organic is the only way!!!
APPLES. Yum!! Not only are they full of Vitamin C and a great source of fiber, but did you know they also have Omega-3 & Omega-6 fatty acids, which, by the way, are good for skin and coat. No seeds, please and Organic only. The average conventionally grown apple has more pesticide residue on it than any other fruit or vegetable. We use only organic apples in our food and of course, you can get them as dehydrated treats. Yummy!!
Have you noticed this is all "real" food?
CELERY. Just for flavoring? I don’t think so!! High in Vitamin C—good for the immune system and a great defense against cancer. It has all those vitamins and minerals that make up all those anti-inflammatory producers. So, yes, they are crunchy and Yes, they are mostly water, which how great is that, but also an antioxidant. Wow!!! It is something, this thing we call ORGANIC celery. Notice how I said organic dog food without actually saying it.
GROUND FLAXSEED. A little seed with a big heart!! Full of omega-3 fatty acids, which are, you got it, good for the heart. It can help prevent high blood pressure, high cholesterol and heart rhythm problems. Only good for the heart? I don’t think so!! It’s also a cancer fighter, an anti-inflammatory and really great for coat maintenance. It gives a big boost to the immune system, so why wouldn’t you put your whole heart in to this little seed. We do!! We also put it in our organic dog food and now you know why.
CHIA SEED. Ch.Ch.Ch.Chia...You know the tune and you know you’re humming along, but don’t take this little seed for granted. It’s not just for growing green hair on that gnome shaped terracotta pot that Aunt Louise gave you for your birthday and you know you’re waiting for just the right person that will love it as a re-gift. This tiny powerhouse is higher in antioxidants than blueberries. 5 times more calcium than milk and a powerful punch of vitamin C. Puts those oranges to shame. Iron? Oh, yeah it’s got that too. In fact, there is 3 times more than spinach. Imagine what our favorite cartoon character Popeye could’ve accomplished if only he had known. Don’t forget the potassium and it’s high in fiber. Full of protein and Omega-3’s. Organic?? Of Course.
KELP POWDER. Can you handle it? Well can you? OVER 65 trace minerals and vitamins and amino acids. What? Can it be true? I didn’t even know there were that many. The benefits range from proper digestion to vitamin utilization, so if you include this powder in your organic dog food, the health benefits are OFF THE CHART. Go on. I dare you. Try and find a better supplement.
PARSLEY. Doggie breath!! I THINK WE’VE ALL HAD IT!! Go on admit it!! Well, that’s one good reason to eat parsley. Another, It contains volatile oil components which inhibit tumor formation and of course it contains antioxidants, which by now, we all know help fight cancer. OK, it’s just plain good for you all around. So, unlike what you always thought, ORGANIC parsley is not just for decoration.
Our exclusive recipe has every ingredient in the exact proportion necessary to meet AAFCO standards.
If you have exceptionally active or especially unhealthy dogs you may consider your own organic additives. Unfortunately, we can’t fit EVERYTHING that is wonderful and good into a single bag of food that will be a miracle for every single dog, so we do rely on our clients to supplement as they feel needed.
Dogs For The Earth 100% Organic Ingredients are specially formulated to provide optimum nutrition and antioxidants. Our organic dog food is dehydrated to preserve its nutrients, nothing beats that! Here’s a little history about one of the farms our meats come from and you can judge for yourself if you feel good about what’s in your dog’s food, because we sure do!!
"One Family, One Farm, Five Generations, 145 Years - A Full Circle Return to Sustainable Land Stewardship & Humane Animal Stockmanship."
White Oak Pastures is a multigenerational family farm that cooperates with nature to produce artisan products that are healthy, safe, nutritious and delicious. "Care is given to ensure that all of our production practices are economically practical, ecologically sustainable and that our animals are always humanely treated. We never falter in our determination to conduct our business in an honorable manner, for the sake of our animals, our land, and the people and pets who eat our products. Fewer than 20 years ago, White Oak Pastures had evolved into a conventionally run commodity cattle farm. We employed all of the industrial tools that science had developed to take the costs out of farming, including pesticides, chemical fertilizers, hormones, and antibiotics. Even while using these artificial crutches, our family never ceased to believe that we were being good stewards of our land. We were completely oblivious to the grave consequences that can result from fighting against nature. We were unwittingly steering our family heritage in a direction that was not environmentally sustainable. But by the mid-1990’s, White Oak Pastures President Will Harris had become disenchanted with the excesses of that system. And in 1995 he made the bold — and some thought, foolish — decision to take the farm back to its origins."
"Today, we are raising cattle, sheep, and poultry using the same methods Will’s great-grandfather used a century and a half ago. We proactively support nature's food chain, using only sun, soil, and rain to grow organic sweet grasses for our animals to eat. Practicing the Serengeti Grazing Model, we rotate complimentary animal species side-by-side through our pastures. The cows graze the grass, the sheep eat the weeds, and the chickens peck at the grubs and insects. All three species naturally fertilize the land, and our soil is again a living organic medium that teems with life."
"Raising animals this way is not the cheapest method. Our way is, however, the right way for the sake of our animals, our environment, and for the people who eat our products. Stewardship of our farm is not a passing fancy; it is a lifestyle decision and a core value of our family. We continuously strive to improve our land stewardship."
"We are proud to be the largest USDA Certified Organic farm in Georgia. Our animals are processed in abattoirs that we built here on our farm, and they are zero-waste facilities. All animal remains are processed in our on-site aerobic/anaerobic digester and used as organic fertilizers for our pastures. We have a small-scale organic farm on the property that grows more than 40 varieties of heritage vegetables, fruits and nuts. Forty percent of our plant’s energy needs comes from solar panels. White Oak Pastures received the Governor’s Award for Environmental Stewardship in 2011, and The University of Georgia’s Award of Excellence in 2008."
