What can I expect when I change my dog’s diet to your food?

When dogs taste our food and feel the effects of our nutrition, usually they want to eat more. They love it!

This doesn't necessarily mean they need more. 😀

If your dog’s previous diet consisted of high carbohydrates or bulk fillers, your dog may FEEL hungry when starting our food. (Much like you might when switching from high to low carbs.)
👉This is where your relationship with your dog comes in. Generally, when starting out, if the quantity of food you are feeding is the same or 20% more as usual … it should be enough.
👉If your dog is acting hungry, unsettled or loosing weight you may need to add more food.

After their initial phase of wanting to eat all they can, most dogs settle into a comfortable routine. With time, dogs tend to eat less.

When your dog's body responds to organic nutrition and they realize, every meal from now on is going to be delicious, human food, they are not quite as anxious.

With time, dogs tend to eat less.

This usually means they no longer crave the nutrients.

Or it can mean that your dog realizes the delicious new food is going to be their meals everyday from now on so they don't worry about eating as much as they can!

AutoShip orders tend to start at one point, rapidly increase for a short period, then decrease substantially to a steady plateau.

You'll notice their bodies absorb most of the ingredients and they eventually eliminate less waste - that's good !

What if I make too much food?

After rehydrating Dogs For The Earth meals, you can safely store it as any other fresh food in your refrigerator. Generally, 3-4 days.

Do I have to Transition to your food?

Yes.

80% of a dog's immune system is in their gut. This means taking care of your dog's digestive system is paramount.

All dogs are individuals, so the rate of transitioning should be customized to your dog.

Dogs with a history of sensitive gastrointestinal symptoms should go slower that the recommendation.

NEVER SUDDENLY CHANGE YOUR DOG’S DIET
Substitute small amounts of their old food with Dogs For The Earth food.
With each meal, gradually increase the amount of Dogs For The Earth food and decrease the amount of old food.
Do this until your dog is eating only Dogs For The Earth food.

If you notice loose stools or an upset tummy, this is an indication to make the transition more slowly.

Do I have to transition each protein/flavor

No.

After your dog has transitioned to Dogs For The Earth meals, a variety of proteins/flavors is highly recommended.

Unless your dog has specific allergies, all dogs benefit from variety.

For instance, different proteins offer different amino acids.

Picky eaters love variety.

For maximum benefit and enjoyment by your dog, we suggest you change the protein for each meal.

Is Dogs For The Earth Organic Dehydrated Food a complete diet?

Yes! Our food is packed full of ORGANIC vitamins and minerals that occur naturally in the ingredients we use.

We’re proud to say, when dogs who have been eating our food exclusively have their annual blood panels done, they reflect optimum health.

I don't see added vitamins and minerals like I do on other dog food ingredients, why not?

We don't have to add anything because we use vitamin and mineral RICH ORGANIC INGREDIENTS in the perfect proportion, not only that, but just as importantly, we do not deplete what nature provided with damaging processing. That is the essential beauty of our food & treats!

The only time any food product needs to add synthetic vitamins and minerals supplements is when they are not already in the food. Either the quality of the ingredients used didn't have them to begin with or processing depleted them - or BOTH!

With our food, your dog receives 100% ORGANIC and balanced nutrition. No synthetic additives, no chemical toxins, no processing toxins. No industrial jargon. No controversial terminology. Just organic food.

Where are the bones, organs and calcium?

"Throwing a dog a bone" is an age old and excepted way for some to feed dogs.

Bones and organs are especially popular when diets are created without the benefit of organic ingredients and a qualified scientific nutritionist.

You probably already know, calcium and essential nutrients come in many forms not just bones and organs. Some of our ingredients which have calcium are spinach, broccoli and blueberries.

Since our food blends are organic, human grade and air dried and we retain our vitamin/mineral content by using this process, our foods offer optimum nutrition – including calcium. For instance, did you know kale has more calcium than milk and broccoli has just as much as milk?

What is so important about organic vitamins?

There is a huge difference between our naturally occurring, ORGANIC vitamins and minerals and those added to processed foods.

It's important to be aware of the warnings regarding added supplements and synthetic vitamins commonly found in manufactured products.

Synthetic vitamins particularly; fat-soluble ones build up in the fat tissues, fat deposits and the liver.  In addition, the base of the synthetics can consist of petrochemical derivatives, nicotine and coal tars (by-products of coal). Many supplements look good on the label but many are difficult if not impossible for dogs to assimilate.

Toxins from synthetic additives and chemical supplements build up over time and can compromise organs, create digestive issues and show up as itchy skin syndrome and more!
